Ammonium Bifluoride is a white crystal with corrosive to skin and toxic. It is soluble in water and methanol, slightly soluble in ethanol, insoluble in propanone and liquid ammonia. When it is in hot water decomposition will occur to release ammonia and ammonium bifluoride.It is white or colorless transparent orthorhombic crystal at room temperature, with a slightly sour taste. It is easily deliquescent when heated or in hot water, and decomposes into ammonia and hydrogen fluoride. Decomposed in hot water, the aqueous solution is strongly acidic. It is obtained by neutralizing anhydrous hydrofluoric acid with liquid ammonia.

1. Ammonium bifluoride can be used as glass etching agent, disinfectant, preservative, metal beryllium solvent, silicon plate surface treatment agent, also used in the manufacture of ceramics and magnesium alloys.
2. Ammonium bifluoride can be used as chemical reagent, glass etching agent, disinfectant and preservative for fermentation industry, solvent for making beryllium metal from beryllium oxide, and surface treatment agent for silicon steel plate.
3. Ammonium bifluoride can be used in the manufacture of ceramics, magnesium alloys, cleaning and descaling of boiler feed water system and steam generation system, and acidizing treatment of oilfield sand and stone.
4. Ammonium bifluoride can be used as catalyst component for alkylation and isomerization.
5. Ammonium bifluoride can be used for oilfield acidification treatment, manufacturing magnesium and magnesium alloys.
6. Ammonium bifluoride can be used as glass matting, frosting, etching agent, used as wood protection agent, aluminum brightening agent, textile industry used as rust remover.
